Omaha’s Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium, the Desert Dome and Lee G. Simmons Wildlife Safari Park all took first place spots in the 2024 USA TODAY 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards: Omaha’s Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium for Best Zoo, the Desert Dome for Best Zoo Exhibit and Lee G. Simmons Wildlife Safari Park for Best Safari Park. This is the second year in a row the Zoo has swept all three categories. Omaha’s Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium won Best Zoo for the second year in a row and Best Zoo Exhibit for the fifth year in a row. Lee G. Simmons Wildlife Safari Park has won Best Safari Park for the past four years.
“Earning this distinction for the second year in a row is truly incredible,” said Dr. Luis Padilla, DVM, Dipl. ACZM, president and CEO of Omaha’s Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium. “Our Zoo community and employees are to thank for this amazing accomplishment, we heard from many people that they were voting for their Zoo every day.” Dr. Padilla continued, “We are proud to share the title of number one Zoo, Zoo Exhibit and Safari Park in the nation with our community yet again.”
The 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards are awarded through public voting. Nominees for all categories are chosen by a panel of relevant experts. Winners were announced on the 10Best website. Voting took place from February 5 to March 4.
