Our visit to Dúthchas Edinburgh, we will share with you a lovely dinner we had, using fine Scottish flavors and ingredients!
On our recent trip to Scotland, we made a reservation for Dùthchas restaurant which is located in Leith in Edinburgh. Dùthchas stands for the relationship between people, animals, land and sea. it really has several meanings, but also means a Gaelic concept for a sustainable future. Check out some of our other Scotland adventures Glenmorangie House, Glenmorangie Distillery, Glenfiddich Distillery, Blair Athol Distillery and Lindores Abbey Distillery.

At Dùthchas they offer a tasting menu inspired by seasonal Scottish ingredients, and they use the best quality produce from the British Isles and outer Hebrides. It is a lovely casual fine dining experience.
They work closely with local farmers, suppliers and producers to give a strong emphasis on the quality of the produce year-round.
Their bespoke six-course tasting menu starts with a few canapés, and you can look at their amazing wine list or lovely cocktails offered.
The exquisite food is presented by both the front of house team and chefs who give you a description of the idea and ingredients used in the dishes. This is the nature of dùthchas.
The intimate vibe of the space painted dark green has some fun and brightly colored artwork. Throughout our dinner we got to hear A-Ha and Depeche Mode. There is a full bar for all alcoholic and non-alcoholic offerings.
Dùthchas is jointly owned by Alexander McDonald and renowned chef Paul Gunning. They had met at award-winning Purslane, an Edinburgh restaurant. Dùthchas Edinburgh opened just this year, in spring 2024.
Then we continued the meal with a cod, spinach and artichoke dish that was my favorite of the night. I love cod, and fresh cod is lovely and flavorful.
The final entree was a pigeon, broccoli and celeriac course, in which the meat was cooked to perfection.
And then the first of two delicious dessert courses was an apricot, cherry and almond dish, followed by a raspberry, honey and oats dish. This last dessert was a modern take on a Scottish Cranachan, and was definitely our favorite sweet.
We finished the meal by being presented with a wooden box, filled with cocoa nibs (don’t eat them) and petit fours.
